PEOPLE’S HOUSING PROGRAM (PHP)


  1. People's Housing Program is a government program for the resettlement of squatters and residence requirements for low-income earners.  National Housing Department / Ministry of Housing and Local Government is the main implementing agency for the PPR projects throughout Malaysia. PPR consists of two categories, PPR for Rental (PPRS) and PPR for Ownership (PPRM).

  1. PPRM program originally implemented only in the state of Pahang but from the Tenth Malaysia Plan, PPRM program has been expanded to the state of Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah. PPRM houses are sold at prices ranging from RM30, 000.00 and RM35, 000.00 per unit in Peninsular Malaysia  and RM40, 500.00 in Sabah and Sarawak.


  1. All the houses built under both PPRM and PPRS will use the specifications of  planning and design of low-cost housing set out in the National Housing Standard for Low Cost Housing Flats (CIS2).

  1. Features of PPR

    The type of multilevel homes ranging from 5 to 18 floors in the major cities
    Landed properties in coastal and sub-urban
    Area - Not less than 700 sq ft
    Construction -  3 Bedrooms, 1 Living Room, 1 space Kitchen,  2 Bathrooms

 

 

PROJECT PPR FOR RENTAL

 


Introduction

Program of PPRS was introduced in February 2002 intended to be rented to the target group (low income group and squatter) at RM124.00 per month.

 

Achievement
As of December 31, 2011, a total of 88 projects consisting of  76,159 units have already been implemented in which 64 projects consisting of 62,716 units have already been completed. While 24 projects comprise of a total of 13,443 units are in various stages of construction.

 

PROJECT PPR FOR OWNERSHIP


Introduction
The government has also implemented PPRM aimed at enabling low-income groups to have the opportunity to own their own homes. Currently this program is implemented in the state of Pahang. PPRM houses are priced at RM30,000 and RM35,000 per unit.

 

Achievement

As of December 31, 2011 a total of 27 projects containing 3,672 units have already been implemented in the state of Pahang.  A total of 22 projects have been completed which contains 3,062 units. The balance of 5 projects containing 610 housing units will be completed in the Tenth Malaysia Plan.

 

4 Projects of PPRM in other states will be implemented in Tenth Malaysia Plan

  • Kelantan (PPR  Gua Musang :  1000 units),
  • Kuala Lumpur (PPR Kepong :  1600 units and PPR Sentul :  500 units) and in
  • Sabah (PPR Inanam, Kota Kinabalu : 1,200 units)
